From April 21 to 23, 2026, the 2026 Forging Automation and Information Technology Symposium, hosted by the China Forging Industry Association (CFIA), was successfully held at the Haitian Financial Center Hotel in Qingdao, Shandong Province. Centered on the theme “AI-Driven Precision Forging · A New Chapter of Low-Carbon Smart Transformation”, the event aligned closely with China’s “Dual Carbon” goals and the requirements for high-quality development of the manufacturing industry. It gathered more than 300 domestic and international participants, including leaders from forging enterprises, experts from scientific research institutions, and industry elites, to jointly explore practical paths and opportunities for the intelligent upgrading and low-carbon transformation of the forging industry.
Currently, the forging industry faces three core challenges: efficiency improvement, energy consumption control, and precision quality management. AI empowerment and low-carbon process innovation have become key solutions to these issues. At the opening ceremony, Han Mulin, Executive Vice President of the China Forging Industry Association, emphasized that as a foundational support for equipment manufacturing, the forging industry must accelerate the integration of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twins, and automatic control. This integration will promote the industry’s in-depth transformation from “traditional forging” to “intelligent precision forging” and from “high-consumption production” to “low-carbon smart manufacturing” while improving quality and efficiency and reducing carbon emissions.
During the two-day professional discussion session, top industry experts delivered 15 keynote speeches covering key areas such as AI visual inspection, intelligent temperature-controlled forging, full-process digital management, low-carbon material application, and green process optimization. The sessions included both theoretical analysis of cutting-edge technologies and practical case sharing from leading enterprises. Participants engaged in in-depth discussions on hot topics such as “how AI restructures the forging production process,” “the balance between costs and benefits of low-carbon technology implementation,” and “the localization substitution path for automated production lines.” The exchanges generated numerous innovative and feasible solutions, injecting new ideas and momentum into the industry.
In addition to theoretical discussions, the symposium organized participants to visit the production site of FAW Forging (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. to observe the integrated application of AI technology in precision forging. The fully intelligent layout—from AI-powered temperature-controlled heating furnaces and automated forging production lines to real-time AI product quality inspection systems and digital production data management platforms—allowed participants to directly experience the significant advantages of “AI + precision forging” in improving production efficiency, ensuring product accuracy, and reducing energy consumption and emissions. The visit provided intuitive references and practical insights for enterprises’ subsequent technological transformation and upgrading.
The successful holding of this symposium established a high-end communication platform for in-depth integration of “industry, academia, research, and application” in the forging industry. It not only clarified the core direction of the industry’s intelligent and low-carbon transformation but also consolidated the industry consensus of “technological collaboration, green coexistence, and intelligent win-win.”
Looking ahead, the China Forging Industry Association will continue to act as a bridge, focusing on industry pain points and development needs. It will build more high-level platforms for exchange and cooperation, promote the in-depth penetration and application of technologies such as AI, big data, and automation in the forging industry, and support the entire industry in accelerating intelligent reform and low-carbon transformation. This will lay a solid foundation and contribute to the high-quality development of China’s manufacturing industry.
